Legia Warsaw – Polonia Warsaw:
Although the Warsaw derby is not the most talked about derby in or outside of Poland it has its own climate and is always interesting when these two meet, there is no doubt allot of hatred between them. Legia are one of the best supported and most successful clubs in Poland while Polonia are one of the oldest clubs in Poland despite currently experiencing tough times.
In Warsaw its easy to say the city is totally dominated by Legia, it is actually very difficult to find any sign of Polonia in terms of graffiti, colours etc. While you can see Legia graffiti everywhere around the city, its also common to see Legia colours any given day around the city.
Unfortunately over the last few years this derby has not been played due to Polonia having many off field problems that relegated them severa times, they’re currently in the 4th division while Legia are the best club in Poland currently. The last match between these two with both sets of fans was back in 2011 at Legia’s stadium with around 1400 Polonia fans.
Though recently in the last year there were some situations where Legia fans supported their friends from Olimpia Elblag and Radomiak Radom at Polonia’s stadium. Unfortunately Legia did not return the favour and Polonia fans were refused entry to Legia’s stadium to support their friends from Cracovia (now terminated friendship) and Sandecja Nowy Sacz despite being sold tickets.
