This match looked especially interesting given Rybnik’s good relations with Górnik Zabrze and GKS Katowice and on the other side Widzew’s with Ruch Chorzów. Added to those factors Rybnik ultras’ made several promotions in the form of videos/posters promoting their trip to Łódź meaning we could expect a good number of guest fans for this match.
Atmosphere inside Widzew’s stadium is in our opinion one of the very best in Poland, it may not be surprising given the fact that every match is sold out and they have over 16000 season ticket holders. its also one of the few grounds we have visited in Poland where all 4 tribunes regularly contribute to the atmosphere, not only the Ultras sector behind the goal.
Fans from Rybnik made the trip from south of Poland with 589 fans via coaches/cars (official number from Rybnik fan page). 310 ROW, 278 Górnik Zabrze and 1 GKS Katowice. Distance from Rybnik to Łódż is 250km.
Inside the stadium the atmosphere was pretty solid from both sides, consistent singing for the whole match with many insulting songs from both sides. Throughout the match many objects were thrown between the away sector and the home sectors close by. Mostly plastic cups, but also some sticks and glass bottle. Whenever any kind of serious confrontation looked like it may happen security were extremely fast to react. Security inside Widzew’s stadium seems to be very strong and somewhat overbearing at times. Probably the most interesting moment in the stands happened during the first half when ROW fans burned many stolen Ruch gadgets along the wall of the away sector.
Overall a very nice match with good atmosphere, especially for a 3rd division match! Thanks to Widzew for the accreditation. Until next time!
Attendance: 17321 (589 guests).
