Poland: Derby match between Piast Gliwice and Górnik Zabrze, distance between Gliwice and Zabrze is only 15km. Added to that one of Górnik’s biggest fan clubs is in Gliwice ‘Torcida Gliwice’. Górnik fans only received 500 tickets for the match despite the normal away sector being around 1000.
Górnik fans brought several of the stolen Piast flags to the match and burned them around the 80th minute of the match. Piast fans reacted as expected and tried to break out of their sector, they broke down some of the fence but police soon intervened, the match was stopped for 20 minutes before it was completely suspended. Its expected that Górnik will be given a 0-3 walkover. Piast were winning 1-0 at the time of the match being cancelled.
Flags were obtained by Górnik fans when around a year ago Górnik hooligans broke into Piast’s stadium and stole the majority of their flags. They already burned a few of the stolen flags at the derby in September in Zabrze.
